ABSTRACTResearch-oriented teaching combines two majorfields of action of a university. “Research” and“teaching” are to be pursued together and to becombined in practice. Activities typical of researchare to become integral constituents of the learningprocessof students. In order for students to be able to carry out these activities properly, it is necessary to foster their research competency.The paper introduces related concepts, such as competency, scientific research competency, research-oriented teaching, and proposes solutions to enhance students’ competency of scientific research by research - oriented teachingKeywords: Scientific research, scientific research competency, research-oriented teaching.
